The Suite

In contrast to the dark and medieval atmosphere of the exterior architecture and main rooms of the house was Mrs. Higgins' suite (now used for Alumni Relations administrative offices). It consists of a boudoir, dressing room, and bedroom. The walls of the boudoir, or sitting room, are of light wood in panels topped with elegant arches and carved flowers. Evoking a similar, exquisite delicacy, the marble fireplace and mantel feature graceful curves like those of the panels. The floor is parquet.

Perhaps most interesting about the suite is its concealed closet door to the right of the fireplace. Inside is a window overlooking the Great Hall, through which Mrs. Higgins could view her guests before joining them.
